GulfCast: Jon Moore: Discovering New Species

Dr. Jon Moore and his team from Florida Atlantic University have been studying animals at six different depths in the Gulf of Mexico — all the way from the surface to about 1500 meters down. Beneath the Horizon: A Web Resource for the 1979 and 2010 Oil Spills

Scientists and outreach personnel from C-IMAGE recently created an online resource that examines two major oil spills in the Gulf of Mexico: The Deepwater Horizon in the northern Gulf and the Ixtoc in the southern Gulf.

The Beneath the Horizon website explores these spills, the people who coped with and responded to the disasters, and expectations for recovery. The goal is to anticipate the decadal impacts in the northern Gulf through evidence found in the southern Gulf.
